Structure of SoulHouse.ca

We have to make decisions about the structure of the site. Early questions that pop to mind are:
  1. Do we call the site SoulHouse.ca or do we just name it and have the URL as soulhouse.ca?
  2. If not, what do we call the site?
  3. How do we plan to structure the site? (i.e. one main site, or top level with subsites)
  4. What are the main sections of the site?
  5. How do we make it so that content updates regularly?
1. Really the web URL came after the idea, so I lean towards the name of the site being what it is, with an easy to remember website called soulhouse.ca. A basic premise for the website is to provide people with information about their houses. There is a significant "movement" south of the border that has people recognizing the greatness in the design of simple bungalows and how they relate to the way people live. I have not found this movement afoot to the same degree up here in Canada. I would like to be a part of informing people about the values that the original design of their homes encapsulates, and potentially off them products that are not available in Canada.
The other basic premise of the site is to pick up on how house design and decoration not only needs to look good, but it needs to support the way that we live.

2. Possible names:
Some argue that the soul of a human consists of: the mind, the will and the emotion. We submit that he soul of a home consists of its: design, inhabitants and connection to its community.

3. Section Titles:

New Website SoulHouse.ca

Lynn and I have a plan. Or maybe more specifically we have an idea. Okay so we have an idea that requires a plan. Here it is -- start a website that encapsulates:
The domain soulhouse.ca has been purchased and that will be the new home for the site. Why soulhouse.ca? A lot of names were bandied, but the concept of soul was the only one that tied well to all of our objectives.

A home's soul is tied to its design, inhabitants and connection to its community. We want to help people think about those three things when they buy, rennovate and decorate their homes.

The site will help you identify the style of your house, provide a history of that style, and make design and finish recommendations for that style. It will help you assess the use of your house at this point in time, and help you make choices so that your home supports the way you live. This site will also help you evaluate your community and make sure that your home embraces where you live.

If you have any ideas for this website of have products or services that are inline with these goals please comment here, or send us an email at brian@pooladdict.com.
